8th Grade English Language Arts Summer Information

Hello and welcome!

We ask that incoming 8th graders read a minimum of three books over the summer and complete literature logs for each of them.
The books you choose are entirely up to you, though I would like to see texts that are appropriate for your age and skill level.

This link will take you to a printable copy of the literature log. You may also type your responses based on the same format.

Please bookmark this blog! This blog will have every homework assignment and due date I share with you in class. It is a great resource for students and parents to keep track of ELA work and due dates.

Below is a suggested supply list for 8th grade ELA:

3-hole punch paper - white lined
1 2” binder
Pencils
Eraser caps
Highlighter
Post-it notes
Index cards
Tissues and disinfecting wipes for the classroom are always appreciated!

In my class I require students to arrive each day with an outside reading book to use when they finish work early or I give silent reading time. I have plenty of books to lend out, and the Jamestown School Library and Jamestown Philomenian Library are also great places to check for something new to read!

Email me at Connelly.Cornelia@JamestownSchools.org with any other questions. I will be checking my email periodically throughout the summer.
